REVERGO ARCHITECTURE

Two private houses of 160 and 40 sq.m. respectively are designed on an almost flat plot of the Vardania area of Lefkas island. The houses are placed on the plot in such a way as to allow for the maximum possible privacy for the users and also to offer a great outdoor space to the south, where water elements for each residents are placed. The project named “Ribbon House”, presents as a basic design principle the introduction of a reinforced concrete shell that contains all functions and allows large openings to the south. The concrete shell is combined in places with stone and metal structures.

More specifically, the shell covers the private area of the big house where the bedrooms are located and all of the functions of the small house, while the social area of the big house is covered by a two storey stone volume, where the kitchen and living room is located. The second level of both houses is used for additional bedroom areas. Pools are placed in the front area of both houses as cooling elements and the surrounding area of the plot is covered by dense planting, in order to enhance the sense of privacy for the users. The location of the existing trees has also played an important role in the design process. As the owner’s basic concern was to preserve the existing olive trees, the overall concrete structure of the houses shows holes through which the trees can grow.
